Features
Movies and shows
This is the part of the app that needs a connection type capable of describing a library. On an M3U playlist there is nothing here to show, and that is a property of the format rather than a missing feature.
Last updated
Films and series live on their own screens, with their own key map and their own browsing model. Whether you have them at all depends on how you connected.
What it needs to work
| Connection | What you get |
|---|---|
| Xtream Codes | A full library: films and series separated, seasons, episode lists, posters, descriptions and ratings. |
| Stalker Portal | A library, with the detail varying by portal. |
| M3U | Nothing here. Films and episodes arrive as channel entries in the main list, because the file format cannot describe anything else. |
That last row is the answer to most reports of an empty catalogue. It is not a setting and not a fault, an M3U is a flat list of streams with no structure to read. If your provider offers Xtream Codes, the credentials are often already inside the M3U link you have, and switching gets you the library with no new subscription.
Browsing
The sidebar carries TV, the two catalogue entries and My List. Inside a catalogue, All movies and All shows show everything, and your provider's categories break it down.
On a large catalogue the sort order matters more than the categories do. Sorting offers:
- By order in playlist — whatever order your provider used.
- By name — alphabetical, useful when you know what you are looking for.
- By rating — where the source supplies ratings.
- By date added — the most useful of the four, because it puts new arrivals first.
There is also Group "All Movies" by categories, which decides whether the films view is one long list or a set of category rows. On a catalogue with thousands of entries, rows are far easier to move through with a D‑pad.
The detail screen
Opening a title gives you its poster, description and the buttons that act on it:
- Play, or Resume when you have watched part of it. For a series it names the episode — Resume S2 E4 — so you know what continuing will play. With nothing watched yet it says Nothing to resume yet rather than starting from the top unannounced.
- Trailer, where the source provides one; Trailer not available where it does not.
- Add to my list, which becomes Remove from my list once the title is on it.
- Open in external player is present but locked in the current build, showing Available for premium users. Nothing on this page depends on it.
A series shows Seasons and Episodes with a count per season. Each card carries a progress bar for how much of it you have watched (per episode inside a season, and across the whole series on the series card), which is the point of the screen for anyone working through a long run of something.
Resuming, and My List
Playback position is remembered per title, on this device. There is no account and no server, so a film you started on a phone does not appear as half‑watched on the television, the two devices keep separate records. Before you have started anything, the resume row reads Nothing to resume yet.
My List is the more important of the two features, and it is the one people ignore at first. A provider catalogue is not curated for you and is often enormous; a shortlist you built yourself is the only version of it that is quick to use. Add a title the moment you notice it rather than trusting yourself to find it again.
While it is playing
The on‑demand player differs from the live one in the ways you would expect, and the key map for it reflects that. The differences worth knowing:
- Right seeks forward instead of switching channel, and Rewind(RW) and Fast forward(FF) seek rather than showing channel information.
- Green is Audio tracks and Yellow is Closed captions, because in a film those are what you reach for — usually in the first minute, when you discover the audio is dubbed or the subtitles are off.
- Up and Down move between items, which in a series means the next and previous episode.
- Restart from beginning exists but ships on no key. If you watch series, it is the first thing worth assigning.
When something will not play
On‑demand files vary in container and codec far more than live streams do, so a single title failing while everything else works is common and is usually decoding rather than the network. Switch Video decoder to Software under Settings › Playback and try again. That one setting accounts for most of it.
Unable to play this content right now means the app asked for the file and got nothing playable back, a title the provider lists but no longer serves will do this, and no setting will change it. Something went wrong. Please try again later. is the other one you may see, and it is worth taking at face value: try the same title again later before changing anything. A channel that will not play covers the same ground in more depth, and most of it applies here.
